Write for Trazzler

Trazzler helps would-be travelers answer the question “Where should I go?” Trazzlers meander through a world of trips—hand-picked, concise, compellingly written slices of life that pull the reader into a real experience: a hotel stay, walk, adventure, spa, restaurant, ice cream stand, pony ride... really anywhere that travel can take you. And that’s where you come in. Each Trazzler trip is dominated by a photo that sets the scene so that your writing can tell the rest of the story. Our travel-writing philosophy is different from anything else out there.

The rules that govern our relationship with writers are different too. Here are a few of them:
1. Start from the premise that the quality of the content matters.
2. Rely on a combination of free and paid writing.
3. Surface the best writing.
4. Reward the best contributors with real freelance writing contracts.
5. Dedicate at least 15% of our budget to pay writers and editors (the same as The New York Times).

While anyone can write for Trazzler, we hire 10 new freelancer writers each month. Here's how to apply:

Monthly Contest
Every month, our editor comes up with a theme. Using the theme as inspiration, writers can submit a trip (or multiple trips) and enter to win a $250 contract to write ten trips. Our editors then select up to 10 of their favorite trips and announce the winners in the next monthly newsletter. We read every submission. Click here for details about this month's contest.

We Also Hire Freelancers
If this month's contest topic isn't your bag, you should know that we are always scouting for experts who can fan out all over the globe and write about what they know best. Perhaps your expertise is regional: Northern California, Southeast Asia, Canadian National Parks... or you have a particular obsession (we love obsessions) that drives you to travel: surfing, boutique hotels, spas, food, art, antiques... we are looking for top-notch writers. We regularly hire freelancers to write blocks of trips and "community managers" and "content wranglers" for part-time, but well-compensated gigs ($1000 per month). We promise to read each and every submission and contact you about an open position if your writing is a good fit for Trazzler. As our funding grows in the next few months we'll be adding more writers so don't despair if you don't hear back from us right away.
