Witnessing a Dance Lesson at the Western Harbour in Malmö, Sweden
On a sunny day, Malmö’s sky matches the blue of the Swedish flag. The sharp white lines of the modern apartment buildings at the Western Harbour slice across the blue canvas, and the twisting white blocks of the Turning Torso tower overhead. Down below, groups of people gather on the boardwalk by the sea. An old, scratchy tune starts up and a group falls into doubles. The Skånes Dansteater dance company is nearby but the couples seem to move without need of an instructor—guided only by the notes of a sad tango.
