#3012 Taking Over City Hall at LovEvolution Festival in San Francisco
In the spirit of Berlin's Love Parade, LovEvolution, formerly LoveFest, takes over the Civic Center Plaza with dozens of floats created by San Francisco's biggest techno and dance organizations, from nightlife giants Spundae and Skills, to local DJ and event promotion crews like Compression and Qool. Attracting international DJs and producers from all over the world, the massive festival has welcomed Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, and countless talents in trance, house, breaks, and drum and bass. If you're lucky, Indian summer will be in bloom, so while lying on the grass or wandering the square, you'll see half-naked girls with gold-sequined bikinis, guys in furry costumes and kids decked out in full-blown candy gear. The all-ages 2009 event on Oct. 3 will be the biggest yet and requires a $10 entry fee. Event date: October
