#1006 Eating a Highwayman's Feast at an Historic Pub in Hampstead, London
Once you’ve traversed the sprawling wilderness of north London’s Hampstead Heath, climbed to the summit of Parliament Hill (for views of St Pauls, Canary Wharf, and the London Eye), and navigated past the picknicking families, reckless kite flyers and errant cottagers, the Spaniard’s Inn is a well-earnt lunch spot. Birthplace of both highwayman Dick Turpin and Keat’s ‘Ode To A Nightingale’, this creaking boozer leaks olde worlde charm, and has been serving fine ales and traditional Sunday roasts to weary hikers since 1585. Stay a while–you can always call a cab home.
