Climbing Rocks and Water Tubing in Saklikent Gorge, Turkey
As you step onto the catwalk over the glacial waters of Saklikent Gorge, you’ll soon realize this is a treat that you won’t find just anywhere. Suddenly the platform ends and you must climb down some slippery rocks into an ice-cold, ragingly strong current about three feet high. There are some friendly Turkish men to help across the less physically-inclined (but they expect a tip!) If you manage to brave this river crossing, you come to the 9,000 foot high rocky walls of the gorge. The path becomes muddier and less clear-cut as you continue, until you find yourself climbing over stony waterfalls to get by. When your legs have had enough exertion, head back and take a water tube ride down the freezing river that leads into a natural mud bath. Rocks, mud, and water have never been so much fun.
