Savoring an English Cream Tea in Oxford, England
Established in 1654, Queen's Lane is Oxford’s oldest coffee house—but its food and drinks are fresh and tasty. Snag a table by the window so you can take in the buzzing activity of the High Street, while enjoying the café’s mellow music and relaxed atmosphere. Although the lunch and dinner menus offer a variety of reasonably priced dishes, the can't-miss item is a cream tea—two warm, soft scones, served with jam and clotted cream. Order them with a steaming cup of Earl Grey, English breakfast, or coffee (or, if you’re feeling decadent, a tall hot chocolate). Then slip off your coat, pull out a book or simply watch the crowds outside, and enjoy a delicious English tradition while resting your weary feet.
