Brunching With the Cool Kids at Marché in Nashville, Tennessee
On the east side of the river where trendy specs and coifs are de rigueur, indie eateries have been popping up like mushrooms after a rainstorm. None is more celebrated than Marché Artisan Foods, a favorite for weekend brunch with its bright open space, mellow coffee drinks and hair-of-the-dog libations such as the cucumber-sake bloody mary. Customers also appreciate the dedication to organic and locally raised produce and proteins. Rustic breads are made transcendent with homemade cheeses and fruits with honey; moist omelettes, quiches, and crepes are chock-a-block with tender vegetables or chunks of meat and colorful salads burst with freshness. More adventurous entrees are available, as are traditional sides. Arriving at peak time will probably mean a slight wait. Do what natives do—order a pomegranate mimosa and schmooze with the other hipsters.
