Finding Ocean Caves Below the Graves in Little River, California

Call me morbid, but I was examining the weathered and fading tombstones of the Little River Cemetery early one morning (they can be pretty fascinating, some of the dates are in the 1800s, which is pretty old for California) when I noticed a trail leading off into the redwoods behind the small grounds. Following it just a short way, I came across a sinkhole that descended some 35 feet to a round beach edged with trees. There was a rope descending to the bottom, and with a sense of adventure, I grabbed it, and walked down the quasi-cliff face. I found myself in a miniature world, some two dozen paces across, with a cave leading to the ocean. I sat and listened to the strange echoes of waves lapping rock walls and concussing in too small of a space. Low tide is best, minus tide better.
