#2747 Hiking Ancient Kjøsterudjuvet Canyon in Drammen, Norway
Only 30 minutes from Oslo, Kjøsterudjuvet was formed at the end of the last ice age. A verdant oasis, not much has changed in those 10,000 years. Don your waterproofs and ascend the 1300-metre gorge. You'll be walking through a stony stream, steep walls rising 60 metres on either side. No worries though, it's not a difficult hike. You may even run into a gang of 2nd graders, splashing and jumping between the rocks. Ropes and ladders have been mounted to help you cross the most difficult passages. You'll get wet when scaling the final ladder through a small waterfall. After about an hour, idyllic Lake Gamledammen greets you at the top. Join a guided hike or go it on your own.
