#2055 Hexing Oneself at the Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois
Sure, this Hilton property outside Chicago has everything you might expect from a top resort: great service, excellent restaurants, conference facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, a championship golf course, and the rest. But the real reason to visit this hotel is, well, the hotel itself. Designed in the 70s by Don Erickson, a Frank Lloyd Wright protégé, the entire layout is hexagon-based. The rooms, the hallways, the stairwells, the outbuildings—you'll feel like you've landed in a giant beehive. Be sure to study the map in the lobby, because it'll take you a day or two to disabuse your brain of its Cartesian notions.
