Visiting the Old Castle Ruins at Ha Ha Tonka in Camdenton, Missouri

There’s something eerie and captivating about walking through the turn-of-the-century castle ruins at Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Perched atop a bluff, you can almost hear the large squeaky door open and a butler meeting you at the entrance to show you into the mansion. Your imagination is stirred as you look around at the large stones, and the hill overlooking miles of gorgeous, green Ozark wilderness. The lofty scene leaves you wishing the castle had never burned down, but the historic site and enough of the stone structure still stand ominously for you and other tourists to enjoy.
