#6745 Feeling Lucky at the Flower Festival in San Francisco's Chinatown
A week before the Chinese New Year's holiday, the Flower and Fruit Festival takes place in San Francisco's Chinatown. Colorful banners hang above the sea of people along Grant Street from Clay to Broadway. Market stalls selling pomegranates, oranges, tangerines, and a variety of silk and fresh-cut flowers line one side of the road while Chinese families, tourists, and locals walk the remaining path. The Chinese believe that having these fruits and flowers in their homes will bring abundant happiness, rebirth and growth, wealth and prosperity in the coming year. Watch traditional Chinese dances and acrobats along a side street on Grant. Children can enjoy the petting zoo or indulge in cotton candy sold by street vendors. Event date: January
