Catching Brown Trout in Fergus, Ontario
Brad Pitt isn't anywhere around, but the folks who live here don't really care. Not when the river running through it - Fergus, that is, with 19th-century limestone buildings lining its banks - is so pretty. To wade your way into those flashing, cool waters and find yourself some brownies, hook up with Grand River Troutfitters. Guides bring fly-fisherman to several spots along the river, including closer to the quaint community of Elora and its deep gorge. During trout season - late April to the end of September - climb into your hip waders, pull out your woolly buggers and start crafting those fish stories as you are escorted to some of the river's best spots.
