Grazing on Street Snacks at Sunset in Colombo, Sri Lanka
As the day comes to a close, and dusk draws near, everyone heads for the beach to watch the sun drop into the Indian Ocean. The backdrop is Galle Face Green. Locals and tourists mingle together. Children play on the beach, and everyone browses the carts lining the green for some local-style snacks. Hot buttered corn cobs, and small crabs and prawns atop crispy veggie fritters offer some pre-dinner appetizers. As twilight descends, and the light starts to fade, the warmth of the night carries the smells across the green and the vendors continue to hawk their snacks to the hungry masses.
