Eating Up the Miles Across the Outback in Australia
There are two ways to do Australia. Either hop on an aeroplane between places of interest, or hire a camper van, get behind the wheel, and see every kilometre, one by one. The Flinders Highway stretches through Queensland from Townsville in the East to the Red Centre, and when you're somewhere between the two, you can be hundreds of miles from anywhere. So park up, get yourself a drink, unfold your camping chair, and sit down, right in the middle of the highway if you like! Then watch as the sun goes down, the horizon turns pink, then yellow, and night chases day across the vast sky. And when it’s finally dark, stay where you are, marvel at the milky way, and watch the satellites as they track across the night sky . . .
