Getting a 360° View of the City in San Francisco, CA
The de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park hosts some of the world's best fine art exhibitions, from King Tut artifacts to the fashion of Balenciaga. It also hosts, unbeknownst to many museum goers, one of the best (free) views of San Francisco. In the de Young's far right tower, take an elevator up to the 9th floor to get a bird's eye view of some of the city's most unique landmarks: the Golden Gate Bridge to the north, the Transamerica Pyramid to the east, San Francisco's Twin Peaks to the south, and the luscious jungle of Golden Gate Park spreading west towards Ocean Beach. If you're afraid of heights, hang out towards the center of the observation tower, where a small gift shop sits in front of a hanging wall canvas detailing every San Francisco block.
