Scaling to the Highest Point From the Center of the Earth in Ecuador
If you take into account the equatorial bulge, the top of Chimborazo, at 20,561 feet, is the farthest you can get from the center of the earth. And climbing it won’t necessarily threaten your toes, fingers or life. It’s definitely no cake-walk but armed with a guide, ice axe, crampons, lots of carbs and even more layers, you’ll leave the base camp refugio to start your climb in the frigid darkness of 2am. Your goal: to reach the summit by sunrise. You might even forget that you can’t breathe as soon as you see Ecuador and all of its other volcanoes from high above.
